Evesham match - big opportunity?

Post  fingers on Fri Apr 06, 2012 3:52 am

Now I'm all for debate on how the club is run, but seeing as the predicitions thread got hijacked, can we please keep this one about the football lads? (That's not a dig at anyone, I think both sides of the argument are to blame).

Looking at the fixtures this Saturday, this game is even bigger for both Redditch and Evesham - on the face of it this match provides a real chance to make ground on nearly all of the relegation rivals, who other than Bashley, face top or in form sides.

Bedford v Banbury
Brackley v Hemel
Ciren v Bash
Redditch v Evesham
St Albans v Weymuff
Swindon v Stourbridge

I reckon Banbury, Hemel, Reds and Evesham will get a point, Bash will take all three and Weymuff and Swindon will lose, leaving the table like this:

Bash38 46
Weymuff 38 44
Banbury 38 43
Reds 38 42
----- -- --
Evesham 38 40
Hemel 38 39
Swindon 38 37
Ciren 38 27

What does everyone else think?

I haven't seen the league table for a while but i presume even if we do lose, our goal difference will keep us out the relegation zone for a week at least?

I don't know why but i just can't see us beating them... Head against wall

Hope i'm proved wrong.

Could do with Babury and Weymouth losing though!

No mate, the gap is 2 points, so it will remain that way, Reds will be 5 ahead of Evesham or one point behind and in the drop zone tomorrow.

My view is that this is a must win game for both clubs but I have a feeling Evesham will want it more and come away with the 3 points. Hope I am wrong but I just think they will be set up with Matty Clarke in charge to be like dogs of war. If we play hoofball then this walks straight into Eveshams strengths.

Fingers, are you back up In De Ditch for the game or are you watching Poole Town or Bash?

I based the draw on neither side possessing much fire power and both not wanting to lose - Evesham won't want to risk falling 5 points behind Redditch with four to play.

I'm at Cirencester v Bashley tomorrow mate and will follow, as best I can, the other relegation scores on Twitter - if and when I get updates I'll retweet so anyone who wants to follow, it's @theonionsack

I'm back in the Midlands next weekend but unsure which game I'll be at yet - hopefully the Roms as it's their last home game of the season against Leek.

I think Evesham will bring a physical game to us, and i don't know if our squad could handle it, having said that, they beat us at "their place" due to a dodgy free kick and an even worse handball decision!

It's a massive game, no doubt. Lose and we are doomed in my book.

The antics of their goalkeeper left a lot to be desired..................................

To be fair to Matt Clarke he shook every Redditch players hand after the final whistle yesterday. Credit where credit is due.

May well have punched the keepers lights out in the dressing rooms after the game though Very Happy
