Was Forrington a member of the 'betting syndicate'?

He just played as though he wanted the Reds to lose every game.....embarrassment to football.

He was charged on two counts of breaches of betting regulations.

Byfield was not a bad player, if he has still got the legs he could be a good signing. Probably on a fair wedge to be fair though.

Yeah he's 35, but he still scored goals at league 1 level over last few years. Thing is though when these pros come down to this level they don't seem to have the desire anymore. Julian Joachim went from One of the top scorers in League 2 in 2007/08 season to an over paid flop for Kings Lynn the following season. Will be interesting to see how he does.

I think part of the reason that ex-pro strikers don't have as good a reputation at non-league level is because they don't get the frequency and quality of service they are used to, so unless they are prepared to work harder for their chances they aren't going to make an impact in the same way as a quality centre half or midfielder, who may lack the pace of their youth but can still read a game, Mark Taylor and Sean Flynn being notable examples for us in recent years.

Darren Byfield

Post  solihull red on Sat Mar 24, 2012 1:43 pm

At least Solihull are making a effort by signing Darren Byfield and other experienced players who know how to play football, they are still in the Conference North.Have you been to Damson park this year perhaps you should have a look at the team Marcus has put out this season.
Even after failing to get a point after seven games Solihull were playing good football but not getting the credit they should have.
The fans have had a roller coaster ride this season but we have enjoyed it.
Good luck to Redditch I hope you stay up and look forward to next season have faith in the manager all the hard work you have put in will be rewarded.

I wonder if he's picking up as much as Big Jimmy, if you want to talk silly money let's talk about him.

Then again you reckon you are paying a budget v crowd system so if that's the case he's taking up a good whack of your headcount all by himself.

Any thoughts on that one Steve or is that another hole in one for me. Head against wall
