Monday night football?

Post  Bob Marley on Mon Jul 15, 2013 1:58 pm

affraid

I heard a small whisper that the Reds would be playing their 'mid-week' games on a Monday evening?

Can anyone confirm?

Makes sense...non league will never compete with the Chumps league on Tuesday & Wednesday evenings.

I have no knowledge if this is true or not, but it would be a good idea. Midweek attendances last season were awful. Of course, there are other factors such as the teams form and the weather, but there is no denying that the Champions League is detrimental to midweek attendances.

Yes, I can confirm we have applied to play our home matches on a Monday night.
Del is right there're a number of factors we had to take into account, but it can only be better than some of the attendances we had last season on a Tuesday.

Potential down side may be getting players fit only 48 hours after Saturday game, I agree with not playing on champ league night tho.

Good idea and may help but the proof in the pudding will be if the team get off to a good start as you will still have the problem that people will not pay the £10 entrance.

A much better night for me to watch football and will probably be my regular game through the season as I will not make that many Saturday games.

Thanks DJ.

Agreed, a good experiment to see if there is any impact on match day attendance...at least it is a positive move from the club to change the status quo.

Agreed with Leethal..$20 is still too expensive for this level of football.
I anticipate $6 being more realistic.

So on an average matchday attendance of 200, the club would lose directly $800 if the club reduced the admission price by $4 each customer.

The question of course, would the club make up the deficit by increased numbers (putting another 133 peeps on the attendance!) or with secondary income from the bar & refreshments?

It would be a good experiment for a couple of games to see the impact...but a $800 gamble per game ?!?!
